FCS is a fixed worst-possible opponent: beating it is worth exactly +1.0, losing to it costs exactly 2.0. Ledger points are the sum of every line, rebuilt from scratch each week. Both teams in a conference title game get a +1.0 line; every playoff team gets a +1.0 line; a playoff win adds +0.5 first round (a bye counts), +1.0 quarterfinal, +1.5 semifinal, +2.0 national championship. In the playoff a team ranks above every team it beat and everyone they beat; the trail under a team's ledger says when that applied. Other ties go through: head-to-head, strength of schedule, quality wins minus bad losses, capped scoring margin (±21), common opponents, road record. Teams still tied share a rank.
